Crazy Weekends

Last Sunday we went over to Steve and Alyssa's for Dinner. (Steve is Spencer's brother) It was really good! Lys taught me how to make fried rice, stir fry and egg rolls! It was a delicious meal and a ton of fun. While we were waiting for dinner to cook. I pulled out the camera to entertain Mckinley, our niece, for a bit. We started taking pictures of Spencer and Steve and then I gave the camera to Spencer to have him take a picture of me and Kinners. But she wasn't too happy about it. She pulled this grouchy face and it was so cute!! She really is adorable!

Then this last weekend has been insanely busy. I am in the Stake Primary Presidency and we had our big Primary Activity on Saturday. I had a lot to do to get ready for it, including making 60+ sugar cookies in a pumpkin shape. It was an adventure but thanks to my mom we got it all done! The activity turned out great! We had almost 60 kids which we were not expecting! We had planned for about 30 or so. As you can imagine it was a little crazy but it turned out great. The kids really loved it! They did service for other kids in orphanages by making scarfs, cards, and an activity packet. Here are a few pics

Spencer knew I was starving, so when I came home from the activity he was preparing his favorite mission meal, a Spanish tortilla. It's pretty much just a ton of potatoes cooked in egg. It sounds interesting I know but it is really good! He was really impressed with himself so he took a few pictures of his creation! I sure love him! :)

Carving Pumpkins & First Date

For Family Home Evening Spencer and I bought pumpkins and carved them. It was a lot of fun! As you can tell from the picture Spencer definitely helped me with the carving process but what good husband wouldn't help! We also don't have a lot of creativity but we ended up with some fun faces! It was a lot of fun and we even roasted the pumpkin seeds which I love!!

Then yesterday it was our one year mark from our first date. So to celebrate we went back to Baskin Robbins where we had our first "date" and each got an ice cream cone. It is crazy to think that a year ago we had only just met and here we are married! It is amazing how fast life can change but I love it and couldn't be happier! :)

Halloween Party!

On Saturday night my sister, Kara, and I hosted a Halloween party at my place. It was something Kara really wanted to do and it turned out great! We had a ton of fun.

First each couple created their own ginger"dead" houses. They got pretty creative and gruesome!

Then we played "spoons" but instead of using spoons we had toy eyeballs. It was hysterical cause as we dived in the middle to grab one they would roll all over the place making the game even more interesting. It was really funny though cause Spencer & Todd (My sister's husband) were the final two players and my sister yelled "Now we'll see who the best Ficklin Son-in-law is!" I'm proud to announce that Spencer won! Lol, it was pretty funny!

We had a costume competition and some of Spencer's old roommates had stopped by so they were our judges! They did a great job and all of the costums were great and creative!

Then to finish our night we watched the old classic "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn. It was a great night and a ton of fun! Thanks for everyone who came!

Craft Time!

About a month ago my sisters and I were at Quilted Bear where we each bought a blank piece of wood and a saying to put on it. We finally got together yesterday to put together our project! It was a lot of fun!

The hardest part of the project was peeling off the back and then centering it onto our wood. As you can tell we were very into it. It was intense at times but when all was said and done, they looked great!

Poor Chantel, she one side of her wood that would not paint! We finally pulled out the blow dyer and started painting that end over and over again and used the blow dryer to dry it quickly. It was a team effort but we got it done!

And here are our finished projects!! I think each of our sayings fit our personalities perfectly!!

Fall Break to St. George!

This last weekend was Fall Break for UVU and Spencer and I decided to head down to St. George for a great weekend. We planned on going down just the two of us but it turned out that my family was going down the same weekend!! So we spent the weekend with them which was wonderful.

The "boys" (my two brothers, brother-in-law Todd & Spencer) spent Thursday and Friday at the Golf course. They had a ton of fun! The played all 18 holes and they came back pretty tired! Spencer decided his new hobby would be golf, unfortunately he decided that in the wrong time of year! :)

While the boys were out golfing. The "girls"(My mom, sisters and I) were shopping and had a day at the Spa! It was great! I had my very first full body massage which was to die for, a facial and then pedicures! I got interrupted in the middle of my facial because we forgot to leave the boys the key to the car. So they had no way of going golfing! It was quite the adventure for them. It consisted of calling a few spas in St. George looking for us, taking a taxi to get to the spa and then having the ladies interrupt up for the keys. It was pretty funny when we heard the whole story but needless to say the boys made it to their tee time and we loved our day at the Spa! We were definitely spoiled! Thanks Mom!

Both nights we were at the Tuachan theater where we saw the infamous play "Les Miserables" and then "Big River," which is the Huck Finn story. Both were absolutely amazing. Especially "Big River" because they literally flooded the stage with water for all the river scenes! It was great! Daniel (Spencer's brother) was also down in St. George that same weekend for a volleyball tournement and he was at the plays each night too!

Then to top off our great weekend. We did a session at the St. George Temple which was really neat. It is amazing how white the temple is. The surroundings of St. George are desert and red rock and the Temple is such a gorgeous white color. It was beautiful but what temple isn't? Then we spent the afternoon visiting with one of Spencer's Mission Presidents, President Davies. It was a lot of fun! He is a great guy and you could tell he was a great Mission President. He had nothing but great things to say about Spencer! Just a great reminder I married a great guy! :)

Conference Weekend!

Conference weekend was great. Spencer and I had a lot of fun listening to conference and enjoying time together. We watched both Saturday sessions at our apartment. We had a neighborhood BBQ in between sessions which was a lot of fun. It was pretty funny when the boys were all outside preparing the hamburgers and the girls were all inside talking and i found myself outside more with the boys than with the girls. I think it had something to do with the fact that all of the other girls were "moms" and I don't quite fit that category yet! It was pretty funny!

Then Spencer headed off to priesthood and it was a girls night out! :)

My sister Kara, my best friend Becki and I went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel were Kara and Becki both used to work. It was a trip down memory lane for both of them! Then we spent the evening talking. It was a lot of fun and it is amazing how much you can talk about and for so long! Thanks girls!

Spencer and I spent Sunday at my family's house watching conference and enjoying the delicious food my mom prepared. She is amazing! We had German pancakes for breakfast, a meat tray and brownies for lunch and Chicken and rice for dinner. Spencer loved it! :)

Spencer also loves playing with my family dog. He's a little poodle named Harvy! Spencer loves to blow in Harvy's face cause Harvy goes crazy licking the air he blows! It's pretty funny to watch! Here is a great example of how the two of them play.

Last but not least, conference was absolutely amazing! I am always so sad when it's over. I wish we had it more often than just twice a year. It is a great reminder of what we're doing right and what we can do to be better! We loved it and it was a great weekend!

Honeymoon

Once we were married it was off to Hawaii for our Honeymoon. Here are some pictures and a little recap of what we did!

On Monday morning, we went to Pearl Harbor and later that day we went parasailing. They took us up 300 ft. above the ocean water where it was so peaceful and calm. Then on the way down, they dipped us in the water and brought us back up. Tiffany definitely felt like her life was over but towards the end she enjoyed it!

Tuesday, we went to the Temple and did a session. The Hawaii temple is beautiful but very small which was surprising. Afterwards, we were able to spend the rest of the day and the evening at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Now that is an experience everyone should have if they go to Hawaii! It was so cool to learn and see all the different cultures. The night show was very entertaining, I would say the fire dancing is the best part but I am a boy and I like that kind of stuff. :)

Then we flew to Kauai, which is an absolutely beautiful island. They call it the garden island and it is gorgeous! We went on a mud bogging tour. It was a 3-hour tour on dirt roads in go-cart type vehicles and we got pretty muddy.

We did a kayaking tour, which consisted of quite a bit. First, we kayaked up the river about 2 miles (it was a very calm river, not hard at all). We got out, hiked about a mile to a 120 ft. waterfall, ate lunch, had fresh cut pineapple, and then played in the water by the waterfall. Then we hiked and kayaked back. It was one of our favorite things!

We later rented snorkeling gear, went to the beach and just enjoyed it for a couple of hours. It is incredible all the fish they have in the ocean. Then we finished the weekend with a gorgeous dinner at a beach side restaurant. I ordered Duck, which is actually pretty good and Tiffany ordered the best tasting pork I have ever had. It was expensive but definitely worth it.Sunday, we went to church again and what do you know, Elder D. Todd Christofferson happened to be there on vacation with his wife too. Like usual, him and his wife spoke and we loved every minute of it. Its not very often you go on vacation and get to hear one of the apostle speak. :)

That night we flew back home. The whole week was incredible and Hawaii is one of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever seen. It was a great Honeymoon!
